Eyelash extensions are an amazingly powerful way to enhance your natural beauty, increase eye contact and boost your confidence. NW Lash and Wax is dedicated to exceeding your expectations in all aspects of the services that I provide and the products that I sell. Making sure you get the absolute best in luxury service, design, and technique. I only use the highest quality of eyelash extensions and adhesives. At NW Lash and Wax, you are paying for quality.
What Are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash Extensions are a popular new service and product that lengthens and thickens your own natural eyelashes. Lash Extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual natural eyelash one by one for a natural, beautiful and luscious look. Eyelash Extensions are perfect for special occasions or for day to day wear. I never use lash strips or clusters.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
For some, it may last for a couple months. While others may shed within a couple days. All hair on your body follows a specific growth cycle and will grow to a specific length before shedding. Because each individual eyelash is in its very own growth cycle, it is perfectly normal to lose a few natural eyelashes everyday. Your individual eyelash cycle, combined with how well you care for the eyelash extensions will determine how long they last. With proper care and maintenance appointments every 2-4 weeks, your extensions can last indefinitely.
What is the application process?
The process should be relaxing in nature. After you lie down on the table, I will cover your lower lashes with a soothing gel pad to protect your lower lashes during application. You then relax with your eyes closed. Many clients fall asleep during the procedure.
How long does the application take?
The average full-set of eyelash extensions takes approximately 2.5-3 hours. The average maintenance appointment for touchups/fills takes 1.5 hours.
Is it safe for my eyes?
Eyelash extensions, when properly applied, are completely safe. The extensions are applied with a special adhesive that is similar to what is used in the medical field for suture-less stitches.
Don't be a victim of bad work!! Always check reviews and galleries of people's work. Discount and sales are always desired but you get what you pay for and sometimes cheap is not always the way to go. Below is a picture of a client that suffered from a bad experience with another business and had to have me remove the bad extensions to replace with new lash extensions. It is visibly clear the damage that was caused to the clients lashes.
What kind of adhesive do you use?
I use a medical grade adhesive.
Will eyelash extensions damage my lashes?
When eyelash extensions are properly applied, they will not damage your natural eyelashes. Your natural lashes are always shedding and cycling back, the extensions should simply fall off with yours. The extensions themselves do not cause your lashes to fall out or become damaged unless your technician is applying extensions that are too long or thick for your natural lashes.
What do eyelash extensions look like when applied?
They are literally an extension of your eyelashes. I ensure that there will be NO clumping with precise application. It will be a lash-for-lash application so you can expect perfectly separated, gorgeous lashes.
How do I care for them?
The more meticulous you are about caring for your eyelash extensions, the longer you can expect them to last.
- Use ONLY water based and OIL-FREE products around your eye area, including mascara and makeup remover. Oil breaks down the adhesive bond. Creams and serums should be applied sparingly, and no closer to than the orbital bone. Anything that hasn't absorbed after 2 minutes can be blotted with a tissue or blotting paper.
- Avoid waterproof mascara and eyeliner. To ensure the length of time that your lash extensions will last, only use mascara and eyeliner that I sell. These products are made by the lash company and work with the extensions, unlike other products that can break down the glue.
- Always wash your eyelashes with the cleanser that I provide every single day. Cleanser can be applied directly onto the lashes, rubbed gently in a downward motion and rinsed with water. Remember, eyelashes are meant to protect our eyes from debris, dirt and dust.
- Dry thoroughly by blotting (not rubbing) with a towel or blow drying on a cool setting, then spin through with a clean mascara wand.
- Avoid using cotton swabs or pads that will leave lint and catch on your extensions.
- Avoid using an eyelash curler as it creates a kink in your eyelash extensions, hence reducing the life of your extensions.
- Do not rub, pick, twist or pull at your lashes or eyelash extensions. If you would like them removed, please contact me to set up an appointment for a lash removal. It is quicker and safer to have them removed using the correct products.
- If you can, sleep on your back to avoid the risk of lashes rubbing against your pillow.
- Be gentle with your lashes. How you care for eyelash extensions will directly affect the look of your lashes as well as the length of time between touch-up appointments.
- If you experience any pain, redness or irritation, contact me immediately.
Can I wear mascara?
It is not recommended to wear mascara over the eyelash extensions, unless you use the mascara that I provide. Regular mascara can weaken the bond of the adhesive and cause premature loss of the extensions. However, you may wear water-based, non waterproof mascara on the lower lashes, being careful when applying and removing them. Waterproof mascara is NEVER recommended.
Can I use lash curlers?
Eyelash extensions do not require additional curling. If you are looking for more curl, we discuss applying a curlier lash at your appointment. If you need to curl your natural lashes to blend them in, the only recommended type is a heated eyelash curler. Never use mechanical curlers.
Is it approved by FDA?
The FDA does not currently regulate eyelash extensions, nor do they approve eyelash extension adhesive. If a company is claiming they or their products are "approved" by FDA, they are sadly misinformed. Eyelash extension regulations vary widely between countries, and even from state to state. In the USA, many states DO require you to be a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist in order to perform an eyelash extension service - Oregon is one of them.
How will I know what "look" to choose?
I perform a thorough consultation before applying your Full Set of eyelash extensions to determine your desired effect and suitable lengths and diameters to use. If you would like to make any adjustments, you can request before or during your subsequent appointments.
What type of lashes do you use?
I stock a different selection of lash lengths, thickness, and curl shapes. This variety ensures you the best look for your eyes, and not just the most popular sizes. I offer Silk and Faux Mink Lash Extensions.
What if I have skin sensitivities and allergies?
Skin sensitivities and allergies are extremely rare and your safety and care is my utmost concern. I use the highest quality products and sanitation protocols in the industry. However, NW Lash and Wax is not liable for reaction due to our products used. If you are concerned, please call NW Lash and Wax for a patch test several days before your appointment.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes! I work by appointment only. If you would like to schedule an appointment, the fastest way is online! Or call 503.891.6978 and have your credit card details ready. Please be sure to note our cancellation and rescheduling policy.
Before your appointment:
If you use water proof mascara, avoid using it 2-3 days before your appointment. The film it leaves on your lashes may prevent the extensions from adhering correctly. Arrive to your appointment with dry, clean lashes and makeup. The more time that I have to spend cleaning your lashes, the less time you have for the application - less lashes applied.
Remove contact lenses before your appointment.
During the initial 24-48 hours AFTER your appointment:
Avoid hot steam from showers, facials, saunas and swimming pools for the first 24 hours.
Avoid tanning beds for 48 hours after application and make sure your eyelashes and eye area are covered during application.
Avoid chemical peels, waxing or laser treatments around the eyes.
If you experience any pain, redness or irritation, contact me immediately.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Scheduled treatments are reserved especially for you. I understand that situations arise in which you must cancel your appointment. However, I require 24 hour advance notice in order to cancel or reschedule any service with no charge. If your appointment is not cancelled within this notification period, your appointment is considered confirmed. Any changes or cancellations made after the 24 hour window are subject to a charge for each service. Because of this policy, a valid credit card number is required at time of booking. This policy also applies to gift card and certificate holders.
If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Regardless of the length of time already given, you will be responsible for the full session. As a courtesy and consideration to me and other clients, please plan accordingly and be on time.
